Erin, Thanks for making TV worth watching again! I really enjoy your programs. I have a sony DSLR 10 megapixel and am very pleased with it. I just retired and will be traveling and taking a lot of scenery pictures like Grand Canyon, yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, oceans and mountains. I think I need a auto focus wide angle lens. Your suggestions and reccomendations would be very much appreciated.
Kindest Regards, Jon Bennett, Richmond VA

Hi Jon,

Thanks for the nice note. Here are a couple of suggestions for wide-angle lenses for the Sony camera:
1. <a href="http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=11040963" rel="nofollow">The Sony SAL-1870 Zoom Super Wide Angle AF DT 18-70mm f/3.5-5.6</a> for approx $199.00
2. <a href="http://www.sonystyle.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=10551&storeId=10151&langId=-1&productId=8198552921665233510" rel="nofollow">The Sony DT 16-105mm f/3.5-5.6 wide-range zoom lens</a> for approx $579.00

Hope that helps - have a great time taking pictures on your travels!

Hi Erin,
I watched you on ABC/View From the Bay and ordered your book. I am just an amateur but I have two beautiful grandbabies that I practice on. I am seriously considering getting into photographing children so I am looking for courses in digital photography to learn all I can. I prefer candid shots rather than 'staged' photos because I feel they capture the true personality!
I am considering a better lense for my Digital Rebel and found your explanation on lenses most helpful! Thanks, Mary Jo

Hi Mary Jo,

Great! Glad the "lenses" posting was helpful. Chapters 7, 8, and 9 are full of good tips for taking better pictures of children. Let me know how your images turn out after reading the book.

Best,

Erin

Thanks, Erin. I am a huge fan of yours and the show. I have my DVR set to record your shows and I watch them over the weekend.

This summary is very helpful because I am planning on buying a DSLR with a versatile lens for portrait photography. I also need to know what other lenses I will need in the near future. I don't want to break the bank in my photography, but I definitely want quality. This post helped tremendously.

I can't wait to buy your book soon.

Hi Rosa,

Thank you! I love hearing this. I'm so happy that the information helped. Please let me know what you end up purchasing and how your new "DSLR" images turn out.
